Indigo Class 2024 - 2025
Mrs O'Connor
Indigo Class Teacher
Welcome Indigo Class!
A phrase I hear regularly is ‘Pear Tree is a family’ and I would like to emphasise the importance of this. The support you give your child both in and out of school is paramount to their development. I welcome and would like to thank you in advance for your support and I hope this year sees the children making plenty of links between school and home learning.
Home learning is vital and regular home reading is key. Please encourage your child to record their home reading in their reading diary and we will check these on a weekly basis. We also urge you to check the reading diary to ensure your child is reading regularly and understands the text. Being a fluent reader is important but understanding the meaning of unknown words is crucial. Please encourage your child to ask for meanings of new or unfamiliar words so these can form part of their vocabulary.
Spellings will be part of our SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) sessions in school. No spellings will be sent home, but we will be investigating spelling patterns in school on a weekly and daily basis.
Home Learning will be handed out every Thursday and checked the following Thursday.
PE will be on a Wednesday and Friday this half term.
So, what will the Autumn term bring? Well, we will be ‘Cosmic Explorers!’, travelling through space on two adventures- one based on reality, the other on our imagination. Our voyage of Cosmic discovery will be mainly based on the book- ‘Cosmic’ by Frank Cottrell Boyce, but we also have some incredible non-fiction texts to support our understanding of our Cosmic exploration!
For other curriculum areas please see this term’s Medium Term Plan at the bottom of the webpage. There is also an Autumn timetable attached.
All that’s left to say is…
‘There can be no great accomplishment without risk.’
Neil Armstrong.
And remember

Many Thanks
