Red class newsletter 22.11.19
Date: 22nd Nov 2019 @ 2:34pm
Dear Parents,
We had a special visitor at the beginning of the week. Little Red Riding Hood came to school and asked if Red Class could help her. Granny was ill and she wondered if we could pop to our local shop and buy the items from her shopping list. So we did! The children were sent inside in groups with their reusable bag and coins. They had to find the items from the list and purchase these at the tills. As a thank you, LRRH popped some biscuits in just for us.
In Forest school we finished off our activities from the week before. In P.E we played a range of games.
The children have all been benchmarked this week with their reading and you will find a not in their reading diary of what they need to do next to move on. We have also looked at their maths and will work on their next steps of learning over the next few weeks.
What we have noticed is, the children have retained so many letter sounds now and can recognise them but they are not using their segmenting and blending skills to read words. So the next couple of weeks this is what we will be focusing on in class.
Next Week:
You should have all received the Christmas Nativity letter this week. The next two weeks we will be busy practising songs and parts but will also be looking at the book ‘Cinderella’ and carrying out a range of activities. As well as our reading, handwriting and maths work. So it’s busy busy!
Monday – Forest School – we will make wands.
Tuesday – P.E.
Some of the activities we will be carrying out over the next couple of weeks will be: ink and black pen castles, shoes – measuring and counting in 2s, clocks, writing wishes, making castles out of 2d and 3d shapes and more…
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Newman and Red Team
