Red class newsletter 20.09.19
Date: 20th Sep 2019 @ 10:58am
Dear Parents,
The children have independently come into classroom each morning this week and how good were they? They have established routines and understood where to place items such as book bags, water bottles and snacks. We were really impressed.
This week we picked fruit with our buddies and a piece should have been sent home in bags on Monday. See fb for photos.
On Tuesday we continued practising a range of games in P.E and learnt the basic skills to throwing and catching a bean bag. Big hands shaped like a bowl, use your eyes and don’t throw too high. Well done Red!
We have been drawing ourselves, by looking at details using mirrors, we have labelled family members and represented our own houses using 2d shapes and naming which ones we had used. We also learnt to cross the road safely – we watched a video and went through the Green Cross Code. Then we went out to the front of school and practised it for real. The children listened well and followed instructions. As well as completing baseline assessments, counting, outdoor learning, assembly’s and lots more.
This week –
You will have received a laminated name card in your child’s bag. This is to practise at home to get the letter formation correct. We are continuing to practise this in class and we can already see which children have been practising at home.
This evening you will receive your ‘My Learning Book’ slip back and on it I have written your password to get on. This is case sensitive, so copy carefully. This what I received from the company about the App.
‘We have now released the iOS version of our Parent application. To download this please go to: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/mylearningbook/id1464698442 or search for LearningBook in your App Store on your mobile. This application contains all the features of the desktop version, parents can received notification of new observations being uploaded, they can access the shop and also upload their own media for the At Home section using the application.
I have attached a parent guide to this email which contains more in-depth information about the iOS application. ‘
It would be great if you could complete the front page ‘All about your child’ and over the year upload successes for us to see.
Library books –
Today the children have visited our school library and chosen a book. This book is for you to share with them, we are not expecting the children to read these. Please keep this book at home and when you are ready for a new one pop it back in your child’s bag on a Friday, as this is library day and they can choose a new one.
Next Week –
We will begin to teach phonics in class and will be recapping all letters. Even though your child might already know their letters. We need them to know the name, sound, formation (cursive) and action (linked to jolly phonics). We will begin to teach segmenting and blending and introduce tricky words too.
In forest school we will be making mud faces – be prepared for dirty clothes and hands!
In maths we will be focussing on numicon and counting. In writing we will be writing about one of our family members and we will be doing lots of reading practise too. As well as outdoor learning, construction, challenge tables, drawing, cutting and sticking etc.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sun!
