Newtletter 8th October 2020

Thank-you

The start of term now seems a very long time ago! However, we cannot believe how well the children have returned, adapted and really settled.

The school is full of happy, motivated little people who have restarted their learning journeys and are now thriving.

Parents evening worked really well. Once again Pear Tree Parents get an ‘A Star’, (or a level 9 in new money) for adaptability and embracing new learning and staff breathed a huge sigh of relief that the internet stayed constant across Stapeley on both nights! Thank you all once again. Our school is what it is because we work together.

We are prepared!

Whilst working very hard to make school as normal as we can, we know that things are changing around us. You are being superb at keeping us informed over tests and being honest and open with us. Keeping children out if awaiting test results for anyone in the household helps reduce the risk for us all.

We are constantly revisiting our procedures to reduce risk. We have now separated yellow class into their own bubble as we were aware that we potentially might have to shut three classes if we were to have a positive case in one class. They still get to see their friends in other classes but from a little distance. We have just stopped it being quite so close and stopped staff moving between classes. Pips is slightly altering on Monday to reflect this too.

So our bubbles are now:

Bubble 1 - Red and Orange

Bubble 2 - Yellow

Bubble 3 - Green and Blue

Bubble 4 - Indigo and Violet

We really hope we don’t have to use the contingency plan or send any bubbles home but we realise this may happen and at short notice.

Each class teacher has spoken to their class about adjustments we might have to make and we now have a clear plan of what to do if we have to shut at short notice.

Be very aware we might have to shut in the day. That means you could get an email and text asking you to collect your child/ren. We will have no choice so please ensure you too have a plan of who could collect in such an event.

If notification of a case comes at the weekend or evening, we will contact you initially and simply state we cannot open certain bubbles the next morning and not to bring your child to school. Don’t worry we will be clear over which classes are in and out but again think now how you would manage this. We will then contact everyone the next day, confirm how long you will need to keep your child out of school and arrange an education meeting for all parents with the class teacher.

Let’s hope all our preparations aren’t needed but better we prepare then get caught by surprise.

Extra Precautions

Cheshire East is now an ‘Area of Concern’ on the national watch list. Therefore, please ensure anyone coming onto the playground wears a mask and whilst beyond our gates, I strongly request wearing a mask to collect all children now as well as stressing the need not to loiter and maintaining social distancing rules. This keeps everyone safer.

Harvest

Our harvest collection has gone really well and we are excited to hand over your generous contributions to the Nantwich Foodbank next Tuesday. Monday is the last day for drop offs. Thank you.

Red – tinned potatoes, Orange – tinned fruit, Yellow – custard, Green – long life fruit juice, Blue – rice pudding, Indigo – biscuits and Violet – tinned vegetables.

New Little Pears - please share this with friends looking for school places next September.

In unusual times we are finding ways to still let you see what Pear Tree Primary could offer your child. Under current restrictions we are sadly unable to meet you in person but would extend a warm invitation to you to meet us ‘virtually’.

We are now starting to schedule Zoom based slots where we can ‘meet’ and take you on a 360* virtual tour of our school.

If you would like to book a meeting with Mrs E, our Headteacher , then please contact Mrs Nixon in the school office via email (admin@peartree.cheshire.sch.uk) or telephone on: 01270 906120. We will then confirm a slot and send a Zoom invitation out confirming your date and time.

This gives you a prospective of our outdoor space and the geography of the school in relation to our catchment and community.

Fire drill

Last week during our fire drill the entire school evacuated the building calmly and successfully in less than 1 minute 10 seconds. Superb!

Fundraiser

On Friday 23rd October we will be wearing Yellow for Georgy. Georgy is a local boy who was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in his right humerus in May 2018. His mum, Helen, used to teach music lessons at Pear Tree a few years ago and we'd like to support the family by raising funds for his treatment. On that day we invite you to wear something yellow and put a donation into the buckets which will be on each gate that morning.

Fluenz -  hopefully the vaccination will take place on Wednesday 21st October.
