Indigo Class 2023 - 2024

And here we are, the last term of Indigo.  

This term promises to be another exciting term with plenty to keep us busy. 

This term our topic is based on the book ‘Survivors’, by David Long. The name for our topic is…  

‘Survivors’  

This topic will see us exploring the amazing tales of survivors who have used resilience and perseverance in life-threatening situations. In addition, we will be looking at North and South America, mountain regions, North and south American culture, Mexican food, Materials... we will also be working towards achieving a ‘Pear Tree Good Citizenship’ award.  

For other curriculum areas please see this term’s Medium-Term Plan at the bottom of the webpage. There is also a Summer weekly timetable attached, but this is subject to change due to busy Primary School life.  

Home Learning will continue to be handed out every Thursday and checked the following Thursday. We encourage the children to be responsible for their home learning and we do expect it to be handed in on time.   

PE will again be on Wednesdays and Fridays this term.  

As I do every term, I once again send out a huge plea for you to continue to share ‘reading experiences’ with your children. Reading skills continue to improve, and we now need to focus on ‘borrowing’ all those great ideas and techniques authors use and start incorporating them into our own writing. A particular focus when reading would be to look at punctuation and how it is being used. Discussing what ‘hooks’ you as a reader is also beneficial. Keep reading, Indigo- next steps- writing, writing, writing!!!!!
