Red Class Newsletter Autumn Term 2020

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Red Class at Pear Tree School.  We are looking forward to working with you over the year and welcoming your children into Red class.  This newsletter is intended to give you a quick overview of what’s happening this term.  We will give you a weekly update, which you will find on the webpage of the school website and receive an email too.  Please make sure you read this information carefully every week, as we will include important timetable changes and events.  If there are any major changes to the weekly schedule we will inform you with a text too.

Next Week  -  If you haven’t emailed me back yet about confirmation of times then please do so asap.

Wednesday 2nd September your child is to come in for their designated time to become familiar with the setting.  School uniform, drink and snack is needed please.

Thursday 3rd September to Friday 11th September your child is to be dropped at the gates and collected at the playground (see times below).  If your child is doing mornings only.  We will bring your child out to the front gate at 11:55am.

Drop-off and Collection –

You will drop your child off at the side gate on the left hand side of the carpark (there will be a sign) at your designated time (see below).  Your child will have their temperature taken and be taken into class.

8:35-8:45am surnames A – I

8:45-8:55am surnames J to Q

8:55 – 9:05am surnames R-Z

On collection enter through the front gate and go to playground.  When we see you, we will send your child out to you.  Gates will be open at 3pm.

What does my child need to bring to school in September?

Your child does not need to bring a school bag or any stationary.  On the first day back they will be given a simple clear plastic bag to carry their reading diary, reading book, named water bottle, snack and any work back and to, to school in.

Our learning this term –  For the first three weeks we will be busy settling your children in, seeing where they are up to in their learning and looking at a range of books all about ‘Families and Ourselves’.

Then we will be learning about MIX AND MATCH FAMILIES  -  ‘Ourselves’, ‘People who help us’ and ‘traditional/fairy tales’. This work will link in with our theme ‘The Family’ and we will be asking you to help us with this in the Home Learning activities.  We will be sensitive to families who may have a different structure and celebrate a whole diversity of families through our stories and play.

Snacks – Your child will only need a small healthy snack e.g. piece of fruit, cereal bar (NO NUTS), as they don’t have long to eat them.  Please make sure they are in a throw away bag and clearly named thanks.  Writing on a banana is very satisfying!  Nuts must not be brought in any form to school due to severe allergies some pupils have.

Lunches – Your child is entitled to a free school dinner for the first three years of school.  To begin with, due to COVID these will be grab bags eaten in the classroom. If you are sending your own in, please can these be in a disposable bag only.  This helps reduce items coming and going into school and home again.

Journals – The blue journal contains lots of information so please take some time to look through it.  Please sign the permission forms.  We will check journals daily and write in it when your child has read with an adult.  In addition in the next week a pack will come home with a letter regarding home school agreement, allergies etc.
