Red Class Newsletter Summer Term 2019

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Red Class.  Well, I cannot believe how fast the year has gone and here we are about to enter the final term and it’s going to be a fantastic term too!

Our learning this term –  We will be learning all about animals from around the World.  Such as minibeasts, wild animals, farm animals, under the sea and pets.

We will be reading a range of books such as:

Farmer Duck, Dear Zoo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Superworm, The Teeny Weeny Tadpole, What the Ladybird Heard  and more…..

Our role-play areas are a Vets Surgery and an animal hide where the children can read a range of books as well as looking out for animals coming their way.

We might even have some ‘class pets’ at times throughout the term!

See our long term plan for more information.

Snacks – Please send snack in a SMALL container or just with their name on.  We have so many containers we can’t fit them all in our basket anymore, thank you.

Reading –  We will continue to read with your child each week.  Every child gets to read with at least one of our team and sometimes this is more.   Please continue to read and write in your journal at home so your child can move across the ‘reading stars.’

Spellings – These will start up again on Friday 26th April, so please send red books back in then.

Parent Helpers – WE NEED YOU!  If you are willing to give up a short space of time to support our learning or utilise your skills e.g. reading, sewing in Red Cass we would be really grateful.  Just pop in and let us know!

P.E. and Forest School CHANGE OF DAYSForest School will be on every Monday and P.E.  will take place on a Tuesday - please send your child in PE kit and school uniform in bag as lesson starts at 9am. We will send this home each week.  Please ensure  forest school bags, with wellies and waterproofs are back in school after the Easter break and check everything still fits and is named.

Starting on Tuesday 23rd April - Now that we are entering the summer term we will be doing lots of running.  This will also be on every morning at 8:30am so you can join in too!  It isn’t a race and I want the children to enjoy it and at the same time improve their fitness and stamina.

We will be walking, jogging or running around the field or playground each day, so you might start to hear about it at home.

This term we will hopefully be organising a couple of trips – our train journey to Wrenbury, The Blue Planet and Milldale.

It’s going to be amazing!

Kind regards
