Newtletter 7th December 2017

7th December 2017

The governors have set a minimum expectation for attendance of every child being at 96.5% or more. If we are now 61 school days (122 sessions) into the term then that means your child needs to have had no more than 2.5 days off to have hit that target. We know that is tough and appreciate due to the 48 hr rule one sickness bug can affect totals but please whenever possible try to get your child into school.

Following our termly visit from the Educational Welfare officer we want to highlight the importance of parents supplying us a copy of all hospital appointment letters. In this way we have a clear record to evidence why your child is absent from school and ensure these are correctly coded on the register. She also requested that we ask parents to ask their doctors to stamp their child’s diaries at the doctor’s reception desk to evidence attendance at an appointment.

We are now only 11 more sleeps away from our special visitor arriving at school....Keep your ‘elf’ eyes peeled for more clues......

Icy weather

The temperature is due to drop significantly over the coming week. Please ensure your child arrives in school suitably dressed and that all hats, scarves, gloves, coats and if required, wellies are named or you may never see them again!

Also we have reminded all children of the danger of the pond which is by the path near the community hall. Local residents have highlighted to school that pupils were seen walking across it during the last cold snap. The potential danger of this is obvious, please be aware when you let your children walk unaccompanied to school.

Christmas Jumper Day

This year we are all wearing our Christmas jumpers/t-shirts on Friday December 15th to raise money for St Lukes Hospice. We are requesting a £2 donation and hope everyone will join in the fun!

Message from Nantwich foodbank – Thank you so much for the huge collection you organised for us. We were staggered by your generosity. We are coming up to a very busy time of year with referral numbers increasing, and getting ready for Christmas parcels going out to clients with plenty of time. We already have referrals for over 150 extra parcels to make up. Thank you again for your support.

Hygiene Update

Yesterday we had our annual hygiene inspection. This covers food hygiene in the school kitchen, Pips and the staff room as well as inspecting toilets and general cleanliness of the school. We are delighted that we got top marks across the board! Five Star grading’s demonstrates that we have ‘very good’ hygiene practices. Well done to Mr Challinor and his team, everyone in the school kitchen and the Pips team!

Pear Tree Sports - #NewmansNewts

Sportshall Athletics Results- Year 3&4 came 2nd , only 20 points behind 1st place. Year 5&6 came 1st!!

All 40 children showed a great team effort, good attitude and tried their hardest in every event. I couldn’t have been prouder, in fact don’t tell the children but I actually had tears in my eyes!

So proud to be part of our ‘Newt’ family.
Well done everyone and bring on the finals for our year 5&6 team. #gonewts!! Loads more sports next term so don’t enjoy the Christmas chocolates too much!

Thank you to Mr and Mrs Williamson for offering all the children who were part of the indoor athletics squad 8 free Crossfit Kids Classes. If your child was part of the squad they will be bringing home all the information with them tonight.

Thank you very much for this fabulous gesture ☺
