Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank-you to everyone who supported the Macmillan coffee morning last week! It was lovely to see so many of you and we were amazed at the wonderful cakes! We raised nearly £400 and thoroughly enjoyed having our very serious judges looking over the entries! Congratulations to all our winners.

Stop, Look and Listen

Over the past two weeks all the children have had lessons looking at Stranger Danger with the help of our PCSOs and the infants have all been reminded of how to cross the road safely. Stop, Look and Listen being the message of the day. Please support us with this by ensuring you drive very slowly around school, reverse park on the pub car park to lessen the chance of a child being knocked down and consider walking when you can to lessen the traffic congestion. Finally, we have stressed the importance of checking cars have actually stopped at crossings as we have had a pupil clipped by a car that failed to stop at a zebra crossing last week. This time it was an outcome that didn’t require medical treatment but we have stressed to the children that sometimes drivers can be distracted and miss crossings changing so they must double check.

All is safely gathered in….

This week is Harvest in school and we are doing our annual collection for the Nantwich Food Bank. We have been asked for specific items this time so please send any donation in by next Monday morning at the latest, when we will be delivering our offering. Below is a list of what each class are collecting (and busily competing to see which class collects the most!) We kindly ask if Red/Orange could donate long life juice, Yellow/Green long life milk, Blue/Indigo coffee and Violet hot chocolate. Many thanks for your support!

Emails and Appointments

Can we again remind parents not to send emails out of work hours as we respect our staff’s right to a private life and do not expect them to respond to them until the next working day. Alternatively contact the school office so you can arrange a meeting but please appreciate, just as in other walks of life, such as the doctors or dentists you cannot necessarily walk straight in and see staff.

Sainsbury’s cards

These are now reaching the end and are beginning to become the issue they can often be at this point of ‘last swaps’. From Monday please no more cards in school.

Y6 have spent a wonderful few days in York. They stepped back in time to learn about The Vikings, The Romans, The Victorians and WW11. The teachers were stopped on a number of occasions by members of the public who complimented the children on their excellent standards of behaviour. Despite a soggy Tuesday this didn’t dampen any spirits and it was a pleasure to spend time with a polite, fun -loving and sensible Year 6.

A big thanks go to Mrs Ryles (Judith Chalmers of Pear Tree Primary!) who organised a very comprehensive few days, Mrs Lacy, Mrs Steele and Mr Pickup.  These trips couldn’t go ahead without the support of the staff so please make sure your children thank them on their return.

PTA – Christmas Card fundraising. Your child’s designs can be made into Christmas cards, mugs, placemats, coasters, tote bags and teddies – perfect for a little Christmas gift. Please return the drawing sheet by Wednesday 23rd October.

Pear Tree School Games 2019

Unfortunately rain has stopped play! Most events have been cancelled – Cross Country, Year 2 Rugby skills, Year 3,4,5&6 Rugby, Year 3&4 Football tournament.  But hopefully next week we have our little Newts playing in a football tournament and the rain won’t stop us as we are in the Dome at Reaseheath.  Good luck team!

The Tag Rugby and Football will be on at a later date in the year.  I will let you know details when we know more.
