Pear Tree Pounds the Park
What a fantastic event! Huge thanks to everyone who came down to Barony Park last night – we had great fun, raising about £800 for new school library books and got fit! Keith Hancock set up the course and looked after us all and Mrs Hadfield who motivated and warmed us up! Great support from Mornflake, Everybody gym, Mr Warbrook for designing all the publicity, the PTA for their fantastic draw prizes and of course Mrs Newman who’s enthusiasm is infectious!
It was brilliant to see so many parents running or toddling with their children and the sense of achievement that so many children achieved their first 5km races made us all really proud.
We are looking to run it again at the end of May 2018 and as soon as we have a date we will confirm this to you early so you can block it off and get training!
Reading Helpers
We still need more! Please if you feel you could help with a small regular reading commitment let the school office know. If you have any other talents, sewing or art for example and would like to assist in any way then again please don’t hesitate to call in. Together we are always stronger.
Tea with Mrs E
Our fortnightly event returns this week when we will be inviting children who consistently show us excellent manners both in the way they work together, with children and general behaviour around our school.
Uniform
Every child continues to look very smart but a small plea – can the latest love of JoJo Bows be limited to the small and medium ones. Some of the large ones appear to take over and cause far more distraction than we could ever have imagined!
Parents Evenings
Our first parents evening take place on Thursday October 5th from 3.30p.m. till 6.00p.m. in the hall and on Monday October 9th from 3.30p.m. to 7.00p.m. The online booking system is now live and you should’ve received a text/email with a link to book an appointment. If you have a problem we can book them manually in the office. This is a ten minute appointment with teachers who will discuss how your child has settled in, next steps in their learning journey as well as being an opportunity to raise any queries or concerns you may have. Books are not shared at this early event but there will be a feedback form for you to complete and copies of the school development plan so you can see what our key priorities are for the year.
Star Days
For those who are normally invited to star day meetings you don’t need to attend parents evening. You will be sent a separate invitation for Friday 13th October.
Social Media
We politely ask, as we do every term, that if you have any issues about school that you raise them directly with school as agreed in our home/school agreement. Taking negative views to the forum of Facebook or What’s App Chat groups does not allow issues to be addressed and changed. Occasionally there are things that need talking through or further explanation from both sides. Social media is not the place to air these.
Blue Reading Diaries please check and sign the permission pages within the first few pages of your child’s book over the weekend. There is some important information there.
Pips
First of all, a massive thank you for the amazing feedback from both parents and children alike since we opened a couple of weeks ago. Your continued support and kind words haven’t gone unnoticed.
We would like to say a huge well done to our competition winner, Lily in Blue Class for a great design of t-shirt for our club mascot, Pip. She had some fierce competition in runners up Maisie and Olivia, closely followed in 3rd place by Jake. Well done to you all! Keep your eyes out for any future competitions!
We have some exciting events coming up in PIPs over the next couple of weeks, such as; British Food Fortnight and World Space Week. We will be hosting a Fish & Chip Friday on Friday 6th October. Letters will be sent out shortly with food choices and more information.
Please make a note of the Pips mobile number for any adhoc bookings or changes 07908192451 and try to give at least 24 hours notice so we can ensure we have enough staff available.
Can you please make sure your account is up to date this week, October bookings will be added to your account from next week. Any late payments will be charged a £10 late payment fee.
Reception 2018 – No sooner have our new reception children arrived then we start showing prospective families around for 22018.
