Newtletter 20th July 2017

The summer term is almost over and what an exciting term it has been. The sun has shone, the rain has rained and we've all learned lots of new things. As the term draws to a close please check at home for any items that need to be returned to school: PE kits, reading books, library books and crucially don't forget to pay any outstanding bills.

Thank you to each and everyone for your support this year, we love receiving feedback so we can make changes and improvements and also keeping things the same if they don't need changing. Thank you for helping with homework, supporting school events, for sending in costumes for the concerts and for having fabulous children. We couldn't do it without you 😊

Year 6 are ready to leave and head to BLS and Malbank. Well done for all your hard work and good luck to you all as you start the next step in your educational journey. Goodbye to Georgia, Daniel, Nathan, Amy, Emma, Millie, Calum, Bethan, Christopher, Ryan, Cameron, Radisa, Matthew, Lucas, Megan, Ben, Cameron, Isaac, Holly, Lucy, Rosie, Calum, Isabella, McKenzie, Freya, Thomas, Natasha, Finlay, Aimee, Rebecca, Ava and Freya.

We also say goodbye to Freyja and Theo who leave us for adventures in Europe and Oliver and Taylor to pastures new.

Sadly we say goodbye to Mrs Eaton, Mrs Lindop and to Mrs Jones. Thank you for all your efforts you've put into teaching the children at Pear Tree School, you will be missed by us all.

We welcome into the Pear Tree family Mrs Swallow into Y1 and Mr Greasby into Y3 in September as we start a new chapter at Pear Tree School.

Pear Tree, Brine Leas and Malbank uniform is available from School’s In, Hospital St, Nantwich.

Don’t forget to keep doodling over the summer break. Doodle Maths has proved to be effective when practised for a small amount of time and done so consistently. At Pear Tree we’re not advocating hours and hours spent on Doodle Maths rather ten minutes each day, every day; quality not quantity. By practising a little everyday it will maintain a sharpness of maths skills in readiness for September.

Summer Home Learning Challenge and Summer Reading list came home yesterday and don’t forget your local library www.animal-agents.org.uk

Dinner money for Key Stage two will be £2.30 from September, please remember lunch money is due in advance. It is important to register with Cheshire East if you think you may be entitled to free school meals 0300 123 5012.

Have a fabulous summer break and we welcome you all back on Wednesday 6th September for new adventures in learning.

Pear Tree Sports and Games

Our year 6 Cricket team made it through to County finals and played in Warrington last Friday. They won every game and made it through to the quarter finals, where sadly they missed out by 1 run! We are extremely proud of them all and comments were made on how polite and nice they were. Thank you Mrs Costa. Go Newts!

Tuesday we had a whole school 'River family' sports day. The children were in their River families and took part in a range of throwing, aiming and jumping activities throughout the day. It was such a successful day and everybody had so much fun. The results are in:

1. Bollin

2. Gowy

3. Dee

4. Mersey

5. Checkley

6. Weaver

7. Dane

The morning running has been very popular this summer and we will continue it again next summer term. The Cross Country just showed how much fitter these children have become by running every morning before school. Great turnout, lots of medals and good attitude.

And finally, we just want to say a huge thank you to all the children and parents for their support with the sports that we do at Pear Tree. We really couldn't do it without you all and as a result we have just achieved the GOLD sports mark for a 3rd year on the run. This looks at the amount of PE we do within the school day, after school clubs, links with the community, competitions and festivals that we take part in and the amount of children who participate. We pride ourselves on our trophy cabinet and the excitement in the children's faces when they take part in sporting events. Thank you
