Newtletter 16th January 2020

Happy 2020

Although it seems like a distant memory, a ‘Happy New Year’ to all our families. 2020 promises to be another exciting adventure for all our children and we have lots of events already planned. This year we will again be doing a focus week from Monday February 10th to Friday February 14th. This year our title is ‘Love Mother Earth week!’ If you feel you could offer a workshop, assistance or have contacts who can, then please let the school office know. Mrs O’Connor as Science and environmental lead will be heading this week and would welcome your ideas. We would also really like to plant a tree as part of the week linked to a particular topic we have planned. If you might be able to donate a tree sapling we would ideally like a deciduous variety so an oak, maple or beech. This is to be planted to commemorate our week and be a lasting environmental reminder to our children of what we have learnt. Watch out for a further letter next week with more details.

Our Curriculum

We try to make every day varied and interesting for the children. Delivering a wide curriculum covering many hands-on learning opportunities helps us to achieve this. All staff have expertise and passions and we encourage everyone to shine in their particular field. To this end we allocate curriculum leaders to reflect this as much as we can. If you want to know more about our curriculum, then look at the school website, the pages are developing and reflect the new roles some staff have taken on this year. Below, are our curriculum leaders and the governors who work with staff to develop their subjects. We uniquely also run many other learning magic moments for our Little Pears such as; our curriculum pledge opportunities, yoga, mindfulness, forest school, lego therapy and reading with Rex to name just a few.

Uniform reminders

Please remember to send your child to school in school uniform. Trainers are not allowed and sweatshirts and cardigans need to be the school ones or ones in the school colours. We ask for hair to be tied back to stop the spread of head lice. If you have any difficulty getting hold of uniform always ask we have a lot of very new unnamed items in our spare uniform box which we will happily share. Named items are usually found and returned but if not then ask at the front desk to check the lost property box.

Fire Drill

A full fire drill was undertaken this week and despite it being a very busy Tuesday morning with classes spread everywhere across the building the children were outstanding. The building was safely and calmly exited in 1 minute and 28 seconds.

Kitchen/Menu

We have a vacancy for a kitchen assistant Monday-Friday 12-1.30pm, please contact the school office if you are interested. Please find attached a slightly altered menu for this half term.
