Sporting Success

Pear Tree Primary are celebrating this week, we were victorious in the town swimming gala at the pool! Huge thanks once again to Mrs Newman for all her enthusiasm and drive and Miss Swan for assisting. It has been a really golden few weeks for school, we recently won the inter schools cricket competition, the MMU Year 3 and 4 football and now we have been successful in the pool. The pupils were delightful and really deserved the win; they had trained hard and really supported one another. Next week Pear Tree Athletics will be attending Town Sports on Monday evening at the Cumberland Sports Centre 5-7pm and Wednesday evening at the Barony 5-8pm.

Pear Tree Pounds/£ the Park

Mrs Newman is now drumming up great support for this new and major fundraiser on Wednesday July 19th at the Barony Park. Please encourage friends, family, neighbours and running buddies to join us too. This is a really important fundraising opportunity for school and monies raised will be used to re-stock the library in the new term. Please come and walk/toddle/run with us or help park cars, marshal or cover first aid! Spread the word! Entry forms are on the school website and available at the school office.

Pips

Thank you to those who completed the questionnaires, they are proving a very important part of helping us to plan and shape the club for our children. We are now taking registrations for both before and after school provision. If you would like an information pack or know someone who would, then please contact Mrs Nixon in the school office who is the club administrator. We are also keen to accept toys that your children have grown out of and feel they would be good for the club then please hand them in to the school office. The adverts are out for staff so spread the word, see our website www.peartreeprimary.co.uk

Attendance

We always aim to keep every child’s attendance over 95% and for the vast majority of children it is much higher. Attendance is vital, if you feel your child ‘might’ be well enough to come to school then please send them in, rest assured we will contact you if they need to go home.

E-Mails

Following an earlier request to reduce the amount of emails sent to staff late in the evening or at the weekend, nearly all parents have lessened this communication route and we are very grateful to you. However it is important we all continue to work together for the good of our children and communication is a vital part of this. The children’s wellbeing matters and as many of us are parents, we are very well aware of the emotions you feel if there are issues. Sometimes however the emails that we are being sent can be very rude and threatening and again it tends to be those sent at weekends or late at night. Please think carefully before you press send; it helps everyone deal with issues calmly. As a public service we will not tolerate aggression to staff it is never the way to ensure good outcomes.

Funding

It will be of no surprise to parents that the school is working within an extremely tight budget at the moment and we are still no further forward in understanding what the outcome of the fairer funding consultation is. Therefore we ask that if any parents might be able to sponsor, support or donate their time or resources then let us know!

We have had some amazing help this year from parents sponsoring sports kit, designing logos and posters, parents paying for extras quietly (the parent who paid for ice creams after the swimming gala you know who you are and they loved it!!!) and all the amazing army who come and read and support learning which is a vital part of giving our children the excellent education you expect.

Barclays do matched funding (this could be great if done against the Pear Tree Pounds the Park event for instance), other companies often have a corporate social responsibility fund which we can make requests too. You may know of local trusts that support schools. In addition you may be able to help us in other ways. We currently pay a firm of accountants to undertake a particular auditing task that in many other schools a parent or grandparent who is a qualified accountant undertakes three times a year. Together we are always stronger and being creative in hard pressed times can bring about amazing results.

Summer Concert – Red, Orange and Yellow Class

This year’s Summer Performance for KS1 is on Wednesday 28th June 10am – dress rehearsal, 2pm and 6pm performance for all parents/ grandparents. No need for tickets but please bear in mind we can’t accommodate everyone in the evening. Your child will need the following: plain black trousers/leggings and a plain coloured t-shirt, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo or violet. Please ensure all items of clothing are named and sent in to school in a clearly named carrier bag. Costumes need to be in school by MONDAY 26th JUNE 2017 at the latest.

Year 6 will be having individual photographs taken on Tuesday 20th June.

Sainsbury’s vouchers – please send in any remaining vouchers we will be ordering next week.

Dinner money – please pay in advance, you can edit the amount you want to pay. We will be putting our debt policy in force from September.

School Money – we have worked with this system for over twelve months and we are very happy with it and hope you are too. We are now virtually cash free, we have cut down on the amount of paper which is sent out, as you can give permission online. We hope to cut down on paper further in September. You can see at a glance dinner money, trips, residentials, swimming etc. for all your children. Hopefully Pips Club will be added to this in September.
