Newtletter 13th February 20

What a lovely week the school is having ‘Loving Mother Earth’. The Lorax is everywhere reminding us to be proactive and ‘Let it Grow’ and we have litter picked, recycled and planted continuously as well as a short interlude on Monday to go wild in the snow storm that hit us! Huge thanks to Mrs O’Connor and the school Eco-Team for planning and enthusing us all this week! We look forward to seeing lots of visitors on Thursday morning for our ‘Stay and Learn’ event. Huge thanks too to Mr Eckton, Emily and very importantly Vernon from the Delamere nurseries of Forestry England for their very generous donation of two beautiful trees to plant in school to mark this important week in the children’s leaning and to help us remember every time we see the two growing and thriving, the importance of looking after small things so they grow into amazing big things!

Pips Holiday Club

We are running a Pips run holiday club for one week at Easter 14th-17th April and for four weeks over the summer holidays, week commencing 20th July, 27th July,17th August and 24th August. Packs are available from the office and a booking form is attached.

Stem skills club will be running week commencing 6th April for children aged 8-13 years from 9am-4pm, please follow the link for more information and booking:

Yet again these very annoying parasites are everywhere in school! We really need a whole school approach to ridding them over half term please. For further information on signs, symptoms and treatments see:

You don’t need to see a GP but they do need medication from the pharmacist to kill them.

Can we remind all parents that you must keep your child off for a full 48 hours after their last time of being sick. This is critical in stopping the spread of infection. We have attached a simple guide to help all parents see what to do when common illnesses come to visit and if your child needs to be off school and for how long.

Holiday’s in term time

Please avoid these – in very exceptional circumstances these will be authorised but on the whole they are not. It is vital for children’s education that they are in school. However, the summer term is especially important. This is a critical time of year with assessments across school and government required ones in Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6. In addition, transition work is undertaken to get children ready for the next stage of their learning, performances, trips and lots of other invaluable opportunities for our school family to be together before the long holiday.

World Book Day – Thurs 5th March

The theme for World Book Day this year is ‘Share a Million Stories’, so we are asking the children to bring in a favourite story or book to share with a friend and also a cushion. This is instead of dressing up this year. We are also having a sponsored read across the school in order to raise money to buy new books for our school library. A letter and sponsor form will go home this week.

Eco Club are going to be responsible for organising and running a second hand book stall, so children can share (and recycle) books! We are asking that children donate one or two books from home that they no longer read or need. A box will be available in each class for donated books. Please send books, suitable for Primary aged children, by Friday 28th February. This is a great opportunity for a spring clean of books over the half term break!

  • Thank you for supporting the Parents Night Off - we made just over £200 which is fantastic.

  • Pear Tree Cook Book - our very own Cook Book is coming and we need your help to fill it. Look out for a letter.
