11th January 2017

Happy 2017 to all our families. This term already promises to be full of exciting learning opportunities for the children (and teachers). As new clubs start I like to encourage all children to try at least one new activity this term, be that in school or beyond. Remember Friday is our celebration assembly so if your child receives certificates, cups or commendations for anything they do outside of school time then please let us know. We don’t want to miss anyone’s talents!

We welcome Mrs Lisa Lacy to our team in Green class and wish her a long and happy time at Pear Tree.

As the colder months continue, can you please name all your child’s clothes, gloves and hats. By Friday lots of these can be found all over school and it as frustrating to us as it must be to you. Unnamed sweatshirts which are not reclaimed after a couple of weeks are recycled to our spare clothes reserve so please take a moment to clearly mark all items. From experience I would also advise the naming of shoes. The number of times children go home in a non-matching pair, in two left feet or even two shoes totally different in style and size is not as rare as you think!

Library Book Amnesty

We have over 150 books from the school library missing!!!! Please can every family have a check at home and see if they can find any hiding out at home. There will be a big box to put them into in the library from Thursday so please bring them all back – we won’t fine, we will just be happy to see them return!

Reading Helpers

We have Reading Supporter Training on Tuesday 17th January 5.30-6.30pm for all volunteers who would like to take part, please see flyer attached. We still need a few more helpers to assist readers in the juniors. If you think you could help then please let your child’s class teacher know or Mrs Nixon in the office.

SNOW ALERT – Just in case!

If there are any problems with weather….we will alert parents through text and post it as soon as we can on the School Website and on the School Facebook Page. We would aim to do this by 8.00a.m. if at all possible. We will also inform Radio Stoke. It is very rare that we would close the school however. If we stay open and it snows hard please do bring children in with suitable clothing as we do let them play outside if possible!

Lunch money for the next half term is £70.40 please pay online via your School Money login. Please may we remind you that lunch money is due in advance.

Pokémon cards are only allowed in school on a Tuesday and Thursday please.
