Family Learning Updates
Many thanks to all the parents who joined us last night for our first Family Learning Event of the year. We started with a focus on reading and shared how we teach early reading skills and some tips to help families make reading at home less challenging! Reading and writing is at the very heart of what we will focus on as part of our school development over the next two years. You are always most welcome to come and chat to us about any concerns you have or seek some help with any issues you may have with reading support at home.

There are a number of other Family Learning Events already planned for the New Year one on maths and number to encourage 'real life' understanding in our children's maths learning. Mrs Wrenshall and Mrs Benson are also planning a couple of sessions aimed at helping parents deal with the hardest ...parenting. More details will be sent out soon.

New staff
Welcome to Mr Jack Jones who has joined our team as an apprentice site manager. He is working under Mr Challinor's excellent guidance. We are delighted to continue our investment in 'life long learning' by investing in our first apprenticeship.

Thank you to all parents and grandparents who are now coming in to help in school, reading , accompanying trips, transporting children to sports events etc,etc - I was told when I arrived that the parents of Pear Tree are brilliant and very supportive- you really are and together we make our school stronger. Thank-you!

Co-op extension

Pear Tree pupils were delighted this week to accept seven new balance bikes, helmets and road signs sponsored by the newly re-opened Co-op Cronkinson Oak store on the Stapeley estate. Store manager Mr Chris Morton reported ‘To mark the expansion of our store and the importance we as a company place on working with our community, we approached Pear Tree Primary School to see how we could support their pupils in their learning. The teachers were just undertaking some training using balance bikes and we felt this was an ideal initiative for the Co-op to support as it helps to encourage the children in physical activities and healthy living.’ Reception class teacher and PE co-ordinator Mrs Lucy Newman from Pear Tree added ‘We were thrilled to accept the generous donation by the Co-op we work closely with our community and we were delighted they so kindly agreed to purchase the balance bikes. The seven bikes, helmets and road signs will be used to develop the children’s road safety skills, physical fitness and stamina as well as offering us lots of fun whilst we are learning.’

Book Fair – You raised £268.00 of free books for our school. Thank you

STOP PRESS!

Christmas Fair Update!

The School Christmas Fair will be on Friday December 2nd from 3.30p.m. to 6.00p.m. (The bingo evening will now be held in the New Year). Tonight your child will come home with a white paper bag. If you could support us by donating items that we can use as tombola prizes, on stalls or as game prizes that would be great! We also need helpers on the evening to help on stalls and drum up trade! We are particularly in need of a couple of people to run a BBQ who have food hygiene certificates and would be extremely kind and flip burgers and sausages for us to sell. If you can donate bottles for the wine tombola, teddies for a teddy tombola, a bottle of whisky for another stall, raffle prizes or know business that might please ask away! We hope this will be a super, fun, family evening and hope everyone will come along and support us. Finally we would like to have some stalls in the hall that showcase local crafts and businesses too. If you make items to sell or know people that do that would be great at a Christmas Fair then please let us know so we can book you a pitch!

Please return all filled bags to school and if you are able to help please see Mrs Jones in Orange class, Mrs E or members of the PTA who will on the playground drumming up helpers over the next two weeks.

 Christmas Carol Service

This year’s Christmas performance will take the form of a WHOLE SCHOOL carol service on Monday December 12th at St Mary’s church in Nantwich from 6.15p.m. We will not be doing separate performances in school.  The Carol service will last approximately an hour and a half. The children have now started practising all their songs, actions and readings.  It promises to be a magical evening and we hope everyone will join us as we have plenty of space! A letter will be sent out in the next week asking you to confirm your child/rens attendance so that we don’t give roles or words to children who will be unable to attend on the night.

If the weather is dry the plan is to meet on Nantwich square at 6.10p.m. with lights and lanterns (you bring from home) and then process together into the church through the new doorway.

 Christmas Jumper Day

Please keep Friday December 16th   in your diary as we will be wearing our festive T-shirts and woolly pullies for Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day! Children will be asked to donate £1 or send an item in for Nantwich Food Bank.
