Red Class Newsletter 30.11.18

Date: 30th Nov 2018 @ 11:12am

Dear Parents,
This week we have been visited by Little Red Riding Hood and got to ask her lots of questions and she even gave us all a freshly baked cake. The children have all drawn a story map of the route between LRRH's house and Granny's.  We have written a shopping list of what we would buy for Granny at the shop, looked at a range of coins and their values and even took a trip to the local shop for Granny as LRRH was unwell.

Next week will be slightly different, there will be NO Forest school now until Christmas due to Nativity rehearsals.  We have timetabled these in carefully to ensure all the basics of reading, writing, maths and PE are not affected.  The children will still get lots of time to choose independent activities inside and outside too.
We are reading 'The Gingerbread Man' next week and we will be playing a Gingerbread man addition game, sequencing and writing key facts about the story and playing a Gingerbread man game on Top marks website on i pads (count and ordering numbers to 10).  On Wednesday we will be making our very own Gingerbread man/lady and decorating them.  I'm just hoping we don't lose any!!  We will be carrying out a science experiment to see what will happen to a Gingerbread man when he swims across the river.  Will he float? sink? make it across? or something else?  On Thursday we will be reading clues around school to find the missing Gingerbread man who escaped from the oven, lets hope we find him!  To help us find him we will be designing our very own 'lost' posters and displaying these around school.

Theatre Trip on Thursday - we will be leaving after lunch and are hoping to be back by 5pm.  Please send in a named water bottle to take with us and we will provide all children with a snack.

Christmas Nativity - you should all of received a letter explaining what your child will be in this and we are beginning to learn all the songs and act out the parts.  This will be at St Mary's Church on Wednesday 19th December at 6pm.

Please just keep up with the reading, spellings and you could play some number games on 'top marks' website too.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Newman and Red team
