Red Class Newsletter 28.09.18

Date: 28th Sep 2018 @ 10:34am

Dear Parents,
We have a super week of fun and learning.  We have started our phonics sessions and you will find these letters in your child's bag tonight.  Please don't send them back to school, they are for you to keep at home and reinforce each week.  Your child needs to know the letter name, sound, action and formation.  These sheets are great to help with correct formation.
At the moment, we feel what with reading and letter sounds this is enough for your child each week, but over the year, we will introduce some home learning and spellings.  If you would like a bit more.  Try phonics play website or ICT Games website for fun, educational games and you can also get the 'Doodle Maths' app for free which is great for numbers.  We will also be sending home a username and password for the website 'Spelling shed' in a couple of weeks which has games on too.

This week your child has written about someone special to them, made a collage of this person using a range of materials, used numicon to count etc (see school facebook for photos), collected fruit from the trees with their buddy, made mud faces and searched for rocks, read and taken part in PE.  As well as the usual activities inside and out.  And who ever says we just play in Red class!?!

Next week -
Forest school - Monday we will be going on a Nature Scavenger hunt and finding a range of natural objects and putting these into our bags.  Please ensure you don't send your child in with laces, unless of course they can tie them themselves, as you can well imagine how much time this takes during the day to keep them done up.

We will be reading the story 'The Little Red Hen' and we have lots of exciting activities planned such as - rhyming words with 'hen', counting hens, making repeated patterns with vegetables, washing vegetables, making a Red Hen, making bread, drawing vegetables, singing harvest songs and acting out the story too.

Gentle reminder - please leave reading diaries and reading books in your child's book each day and only put library book in on a Friday if you would like it changing.

We hope you have had a look on 'My Learning Book', we have already received some lovely comments about these.  Any problems with logging on, just let me know.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Newman and Red Team
