Red Class Newsletter 26.10.18

Date: 26th Oct 2018 @ 12:18pm

Dear Parents,
Well what a first fantastic half term we have had.  The children have settled in brilliantly and are well and truly our 'little' Pears!  Thank you for all of your support over the last few weeks in helping to achieve such a successful start.

This week the children have had a fun packed week all around pumpkins, we have read the story 'Pumpkin Soup', made and tasted soup, played pumpkin maths games, written about our thoughts on the soup and have drawn some amazing pumpkins.  During P.E we have practised some SAQ work (skills, agility and quickness) professional football/netball/rugby players use this type of work in drills and training sessions.  The children watched a couple of videos first to inspire them and then we had a go.  I was very impressed with how well coordinated they were.  See videos on 'My Learning Book'.

After half term, we will continue to learn about Traditional/fairy tales, as well as having some visitors in - the Vet and police to talk about their job roles.  First week back we will be looking at Diwali (Hindu festival of light) and fireworks and how to keep safe.

You will have noticed your child has come home with extra books.  If anything, please keep up with the reading over the holidays as this is crucial for their learning and 9 days off without any isn't good.  Every child has been practising writing their name in cursive handwriting this week and just by doing it every day has had a really impact.

Home work for you as a parent - haha bet you are all getting worried now!  Please log on to your child's 'My Learning Book' and take a look at what they have been up to.  If you haven't filled out the front page yet, then please do so and feel free to leave comments.  I have noticed a few parents are really good with this and it's lovely to read.  BUT only one parent (not going to name you) has actually uploaded a photo of what their child has achieved out of school - top marks go to you!

But most importantly, enjoy this break with your little treasures, they have worked so hard and are in need of a well deserved rest!

Take care,
Mrs Newman and Red team
