Red class newsletter 19.04.18

Date: 19th Apr 2018 @ 9:32pm

Dear Parents,
Well, we have entered our final term for the year and what a fantastic week it has been!  We have been reading the Rainbow Fish stories and have written sentences/stories about the fish, used fish to count and add together, made foil fish, mud fish, stuffed fish and more...
Next week we will be reading 'The fish who could wish'.  The children will write their own wishes, use fish to add and subtract, find out facts about fish, labeling fish, making bottle fish and lots more.
Information regarding Times Table Rock Stars -
This new app is aimed at Year 2 upwards, so we have now set Red class up to access just the ten times table, if they are not ready please do not worry.
Instead or as well as you can access the Top Marks website http://www.topmarks.co.uk
There are lots of great games on this website ranging from counting, addition, subtraction, shape, space and measure and times tables.
Phonics - to help with this look at phonicsplay.co.uk and phase 3 games.  The children love playing these in class.
You should have received a letter today regarding our visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium - please get your slips in asap.  Unfortunately we are really tight on adult numbers due to the coach size.  But we will be going to Milldale at the end of the summer term too.
This term we will be continuing to focus on the children's reading, writing and numbers.  The children need to be able to read and write sentences independently and be secure with their numbers to 20 to be expected at the end of the year.   So please keep up with the reading, maths games and homework challenges over the term.  We are hoping to start with spellings soon too.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sun (whilst it lasts)
