Red Class Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Well we certainly had a fabulous final week of school before the half term holidays. The RSPCA trip was a success, the children were very well behaved and thank you to the parents who came long to help and support. I hope you have heard all about it.

When we arrived back at school we went straight into meet Simon Airey. He had a selection of snakes, lizards, frogs, chinchillas, spiders and more. He was absolutely brilliant, made it all fun, told them lots of facts and let the children stroke or hold each one. To see more visit-

We have also filled our class Pear Tree so as a treat we headed over to the park next door for a play!

It wasn’t all just fun and games this week. Yesterday the children produced some high quality pieces of writing about the RSPCA. The tricky words and phonics are helping and showing a real difference in their writing. So proud!

The first week back is World Book Day (Thursday 2nd March). In KS1 (Red, Orange and Yellow) we are celebrating this during the whole week and will be reading a selection of Julia Donaldson stories. There will be lots going on during the week, drop everything and read, mystery readers, teachers reading in different classrooms and more. We are inviting the children to dress up as a character from one of Julia Donaldson’s stories. (This opens it up to a lot of options) Just make sure your child knows who they are and from which book so we can stand up and share.

Just a few-

Room on a broom – witch, cat, dog, dragon, frog

Smartest Giant in Town – Giant, dog, giraffe, mouse

The Gruffalo – the Gruffalo, mouse, fox, snake, owl

Please keep up with the reading over the holidays but most importantly enjoy and have fun. You even get an extra day off and return to school on Tuesday 28th February.

Have a lovely break,

Mrs Newman and Red team
