Red Class Newsletter 15.02.19

Date: 15th Feb 2019 @ 11:25am

Dear Parents,

Well we have reached our half way point in the year and I am incredibly proud of what the children have achieved so far!  When you look back to September and think about social groups, new rules and routines to follow, not to mention the progress they have made in reading, writing and maths!

‘Positively Different’ week has been superb.  It has been full on and rammed with a range of activities.  We kicked off on Monday with International Day – the children all spoke about what they were wearing or what they had brought in.  We looked at the World map and found the different continents and countries.  Tuesday was ‘Stay and Engage’ and I think Red class easily beat the other classes with the number of grown-ups involved.  We hope you all enjoyed your morning with us?!

We met Simon Airey and his exotic animals and were able to touch them and ask questions too.  We saw and stroked two beautiful shire horses, a vintage bus and a huge John Deere tractor.  The children have been litter picking in the community and carrying out a range of ‘mindfulness’ tasks with their buddies.  We have learned about Christianity, Buddhism and had a visit from a lady who told us all about being Jewish.  Today is ‘Music’ day and the children in Red are extremely lucky to have one of our mums in, who is a specialist music teacher in to work with them and they are having a session with Mrs Minshall.  Finished off with a whole school assembly to ‘show off’ what we have learned.

After the holidays, the children return to school on the Tuesday and we will be carrying on with our transport theme.  We will be reading books such as – Mr Gumpy’s outing, Mr Gumpy’s motor car, The Great Balloon Hullaballoo, The Train Ride and more…

Over the holidays please re-cap spellings learned so far, daily reading and maths using ‘Doodle maths’ app.  I will be sending a new home learning sheet home first week back so please return home learning books on the Tuesday.  P.E will continue to be on a Monday and Forest school on a Tuesday up until Easter holidays.

Have a well deserved half term holiday and enjoy being with your ‘little ones’.

Take care

Mrs Newman and Red Team
