Red Class Newsletter 12.10.17

Date: 12th Oct 2017 @ 9:54pm

Hello,
What a busy week learning all about 'Goldilocks and the 3 Bears'.  We have had a visit from Goldilocks, and even though she broke the chair she did leave us some porridge to taste and a sorry note (See school Facebook for photos).  The children made their own masks and we used these to act out the story in the woods.  We tasted 3 different types of porridge and made a chart to identify the most popular one.  Golden syrup won!  We had a good attempt to write which one was our favourite porridge on a big paper spoon too.

Thank you to everyone who attended parents evening.  It was lovely to chat to you all about your children, 10 minutes flies by! Hope you all found it useful and have taken a look at your child's 'My Learning Book'.  Remember you can add comments or add your own photos and children's success to this too.  Any problems let me know.

Thursday - All of the children who had the flu nasal spray were extremely brave and had it done.  We were very proud.

In phonics we have learned the letters - o, c, k and we have played a range of games with the letters learned so far.  Today we had the cards out in front of us and made CVC words such as 'sat', 'tin', 'map' in pairs.  These are the sort of games you can do at home with the letter cards we sent home.  The children are doing really well!

Next week we are going to continue with 'Goldilocks and the 3 Bears'.  We are going to read some different versions of the story, make our very own book, ordering pictures and writing key words. Make story maps, porridge activities and more.  On Monday we are going to use our very own teddy bears (please send it in with your child) to compare and put in size order of small, medium and large.

Monday - PE
Tuesday - Forest school where we will look at signs of Autumn and collect leaves to make pictures and collages with.

I can't actually believe we are entering into our final week of our very first half term already.  The children have been an absolute pleasure to teach and I really do hope they are enjoying school life.  We will send P.E. kits home for the holidays to be washed and if you would like to take the wellies on the Friday to clean and dry out you are more than welcome to.  We haven't actually need to use the waterproofs this half term, so these are still in bags and clean.

PLEASE check all of your child's school uniform is still named, if you have everything or if you have anyone else's things.

Holiday home learning - the children deserve a well earned weeks rest!  But please keep up with the reading and playing of sound cards.  If you would like an extra challenge which takes 1 minute a day I will be putting some challenge sheets in your child's book bag next week.  They have 1 minute to read as many numerals as they can.  The aim is to increase their score each day.  They are good fun and like it says in the title it takes '1 minute'.

Have a lovely weekend
