Red Class Newsletter 10.05.19

Date: 10th May 2019 @ 12:14pm

Dear Parents,

Well, what a cracking week we have had!  It may have been a shorter week than usual, but we have done soooo much.  Firstly, the chicks started to hatch on Monday and the rest hatched out on Tuesday.  The children have been so ‘egg’cited about this and have all held them too.  We have pulled names out of a hat and now each chick has a name, no ‘yolk’, they are fantastic.  What better way to learn about animals than have 12 chicks of our very own.  (REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES)

We have also been learning about ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ – the children have re-told the story, acted out the story using props and picture cards, practised days of the week, made symmetrical butterflies, used butteflies to make number bonds to 10 and more.

Next week we will be finishing off our work on the hungry caterpillar and also writing about our chicks.  In maths we will be practising to count in 2s and 5s and looking at money and the different coins and their values.  In phonics we will be recapping all sounds learned so far and carrying out a range of tasks, we will be making a life cycle of a butterfly, searching for caterpillars and eggs in forest school and practising our cricket skills in PE too.

Have a fabulous weekend.  Mine will be – as I have 12 chicks staying over!
