Red Class Newsletter 03.05.19

Dear Parents,

We have had a wonderful week in school, started off by going on a bug hunt and what a lot of bugs we found!  We now have our very own 5 caterpillars all with names and are watching these grow daily.  We have written about our tadpoles and created our own lifecycle, painted a ladybird and have written ladybird facts inside.  Yesterday we went in search of our very own rock to make into a ‘Rock’ pet.  They had to be right for each child, one they could love and care for.   Today they are decorating these and making them into individuals and they are writing a set of instructions on how to care for them.  Mine needs love, food daily, to be read to and cuddled.

Next week is REALLY ‘EGG’citing as our eggs are due to hatch.  Fingers crossed we get some chicks.  We will keep you all posted.  It is another short week, but am hoping to cram a lot in.  But this work will most likely continue the week after.  We are starting off with P.E where the children will learn more cricket skills and the nurses are also due in to do height and weight.  One of our ‘curriculum pledge’ tasks is to use a knife and fork correctly.  So on Tuesday we are having a lesson on this.

We will then begin our caterpillar work.  We will be reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and carrying out the following and more, ordering the story, re-telling the story, repeated caterpillar patterns, lifecycle of a butterfly, number bonds to 10 on a butterfly, practising writing numerals to 20, butterfly symmetry, painting minibeasts, role-playing, colouring and bug hunting outside.

We hope you have a great Bank Holiday weekend and will see you all on Tuesday.
