Red Class Newsletter

Welcome back, I hope you all had a super week off. The children all seem to be refreshed and ready to get back to it. We kicked off with a messy forest school session, making mud faces (see Pear Tree facebook and/or learning book for photos). In PE this half term we will be focusing on basic, core skills (lots of games and movement).

Thank you for your support in World Book Day – I thought the children looked fabulous. I hope for those who sent a book in for the book swap have got a good book in return too. It was a great day.

Next week:

We will be looking at the book ‘Whatever Next!’. Please can you send in any cardboard boxes and tubes to help with our junk modelling. We will be writing where we would visit and what we would take, making 2d and 3d shape pictures, acting out the story and lots more. Don’t panic if your child says they have been on a visit to the moon, they will just be role-playing!

Parent/Grandparent readers – PLEASE PLEASE if anybody has any free time and could spare a morning, afternoon or an hour of their time to come in and help to hear readers we would really appreciate it. It makes such a difference and is a major help in Reception. What with Grandma going off on her travels for a month, we haven’t got as much help! Pop in and let me know if you can. Thank you in advance.

This week’s home learning will be focused on maths. We have a new maths initiative called ‘Doodle Maths’. It is an app you can download on your phone or an I pad etc. The children have their own username and password and it is really straightforward to use. The whole school is using and applying this at home and at school. To begin Red class will just use this at home. You will find your child’s own username and log in, in the back of your reading diary’s tonight.

Forest school will be on MONDAY and PE will be on TUESDAY.

Have a good weekend,

Mrs Newman and Red team
