Red Class Newsletter

28.04.17

Dear Parents,

It’s been a super week in Red class.  We have been reading ‘Jack and the beanstalk’, we received a letter from the Giant to ask us to measure objects outside using his footprints.  We have set up a few experiments using beans – see if the children can remember what we have done!  We have used beans to count, double, halve and share, started our very own ‘Bean diary’ and lots more.

We were very lucky this week, Beth’s dad brought in some baby chicks.  We got to stroke them and ask lots of questions too.  Next week we are watching the video of one hatching out of the egg.  Thank you to Mr Wilson J

Thank you also to Emily’s parents for the ‘Oak Trees and bird box’ this week.  We have found some good spots in the school grounds to plant these.

Snack Money – more and more children are having toast each morning.  Please, please can you put the money in a named purse, bag or pot each day.  As it is becoming increasingly trickier every morning working out who has what, thanks.

Over the lovely long weekend could you reinforce the letter sounds and digraphs that have been taught so far and continue to play (learn) on ‘Doodle maths’.

Party Invitations – We have sent out a party invite to the whole class for ‘Beth and Harry’s Party’.  Unfortunately 2 have turned up in school and we don’t know who they belong to.  If you haven’t seen one, you should.  So just ask at the door and we will give you it.

MISSING ITEMS of clothing – we are still missing items of clothing in class.  We empty the classroom every evening before the children go home.  But what I have noticed is, now the weather is better the children are leaving their items outside at play.  So please encourage them to take them back to class and check that they are still named.

The morning running has been a great success again this week and it has been great to see so many of Red class and their parents, or siblings taking part too.  Keep on running!

Next week, we will be reading ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ and practising ordering the days of the week.  We will do PE on Wednesday because of the Bank holiday so we don’t miss out.  Forest school will be on Tuesday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Newman and Red Team
