Red Class Newsletter 02.11.17

Date: 2nd Nov 2017 @ 9:37pm

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to our new half term and what a fabulous start we have had!  The children came back brilliantly, no tears and full of enthusiasm.  We have looked at the story of 'Cinderella' this week and the children have all written what they would wish for after the 'Fairy Godmother' sprinkled them with magic.  We have made castles out of 2d shapes, built castle out of junk, played with and explored pumpkins, drew pumpkins and much more!  During outdoor learning we made our very own magic wands too.
Next week, we will be continuing with 'Cinderella', we will be learning the names of 3d shapes and looking at time and practise reading o'clocks.  The children will be thinking of and writing key words to describe characters from the story and drawing our own castles and using ink to finish off their master pieces!

Home Learning - please continue to read and work on 'Doodle Maths'.  On Friday you will find 2 new sounds 'r,h' to practise and you will receive a bookmark with 6 tricky words on.  Tricky words are words the children just NEED to recognise by sight, you can't normally sound these out.  They appear lots in their reading too.  We have learnt them this week, so every night just practise reading these or spotting them in your books.  Please keep using your sound cards too.  You should be now going all the way through to 'h'.  Remember name, sound, action and formation.

Name writing - we have been practising writing our names correctly a lot over the last few weeks and what a difference this has made.  Well done everyone!

Library books - tomorrow for child will bring home a 'picture book'.  This is from our school library and every week they need to return it to school and will get to choose a new one.  These books are for you to read to them and enjoy together.

Water Bottles - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you ensure only water is given to your child to drink during the school day.  Water is extremely important to drink and keeping us hydrated.  It's also much better for us than juice etc, but they can have this at home, if you do wish.  It is also incase of other children having an allergies in class too.

This week we have begun to learn our Christmas songs ready for out Nativity in December.  We will send out more information about this in due course.  How exciting!

Have a lovely weekend and hopefully if you go to any firework displays the children will know how to stay safe after Mrs Yeomans work on it tomorrow.
