Dear Parents,

Welcome back to our second Spring half term.  It is only a 5 week term with lots to do.  This week we searched for signs of spring and mini-beasts whilst in forest school and we noticed that all the bird feeders were empty.  So this week we will be making our own bird feeders to hang up in the forest area.

We have read ‘The Great Balloon Hullaballoo’ and have collaged our own hot air balloon, written alliteration inside the basket and rhyming words with ‘air’ on the outside.  The children have written sentences about their holidays and described pictures too.  We used watercolour crayons to colour our buses in and watched the effect when we added water to these.  In maths we have been re-capping counting in 1s, 2s and 10s, more and less and doubling.

We had a very special Mystery Reader this week – the Mayor from Nantwich came in and read 2 stories and the children got to ask him questions about his job.

Next week is a busy week, but I’m not planning from a set book.  This is because we have a range of other activities on during the week.

Monday we will be doing SAQ in P.E please send in kits.

Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday and we will be learning about this and designing our favourite pancakes.  Also for snack I will be bringing in pancakes with either; syrup, lemon and sugar or chocolate spread to taste.  If your child will like one of these then NO snack or money is needed – Snacks are on me!

Wednesday – we will be reading a number book story and carrying out a range of number activities such as; numicon, 10s grids, adding and subtraction and more.

Thursday – Is World Book day.  Children are invited to dress up or bring in a prop for the day and we will be carrying out a range of book themed activities.

Friday – will be spellings, R.E/PHSE as normal.

You will have seen the new homework sent home this week.  Due to not having all the books in school. We just stapled the sheets together and popped these into your child’s bag.  Home learning was really successful last term, we can’t wait to see this terms.  You will have also seen a ‘My favourite book’ sheet appear last night.  This is for World Book day, please return your child’s completed sheet by TUESDAY so we can choose a winner!

Please keep on with the reading, doodle maths and spellings at home.  The children are making incredible progress.  We are so very proud of each and every one and can’t wait for you to see their books at parents evening!

Have a good weekend,
