Dear Parents,

Well, what an amazing assembly your children put on this morning.  Rehearsal went so well, I was worried they wouldn’t be as good for the ‘real’ thing, maybe down to nerves and being their first time.  BUT they proved me wrong and made me soooo proud.  To tell you the truth I’m glad I was facing them and not you as my eyes did fill with tears at the end! It’s hard to stand at the front and speak in front of so many people, I still get nervous now.  So they were brilliant! They all used loud, clear voices and remembered all of their words.

As well as practising for the assembly this week, we have been out spotting birds and even though the weather was extremely cold and wet, we saw loads!
We had to cancel cricket due to the ice, but will be having gymnastics again next week and cricket the week after.
The children have been busy drawing and labelling planes, using planes in their maths work and making a range of models out of junk.  We have been learning the names for the 3d shapes and have been playing 'guess the shape' in a feely bag by describing them.  See if they can spot any of the following around the home - cube, cuboid, cone, sphere and cylinder.  We were fortunate to have yet another session out in the snow too!

Next week we will be reading a range of books around buses. ‘The Naughty Bus’, ‘The hundred decker bus’ and ’Don’t chat to the bus driver’.  We have lots of exciting activities planned around this such as; traffic survey, number formation road tracks, measuring vehicles, addition/subtraction onto a school bus, baked beans and bus in a tray, car wash, collaging buses, painting buses, using I pads to photograph bus scenes, writing where the bus has been and more…
We will also be talking after Internet safety on Tuesday and have the local police in on Thursday talking about road safety.
Have a well deserved weekend,

Mrs Newman and Red team
