Orange Class News - 5th Feb 2016

Date: 7th Feb 2016 @ 7:40pm

This week we have we have been finding adjectives and using them to write poems about nocturnal animals.  In Maths we have been counting in steps of 1, 2 or 10 and using our knowledge to spot patterns in number sequences.  We have also been continuing to work on our nocturnal animal books and have started some ‘sea-themed’ fabric weaving.

Your child should have brought home a letter today about our forthcoming trip to the Gauntlet Birds of Prey Centre in Knutsford on 9th March 2016.  We need 3 parent helpers for this visit.  If you are able to come with us, please let me know via a note in the reading diary or by e-mail.

We seem to be missing a number of items of clothing, including a grey ‘chunky’ jumper, 2 school cardigans and 2 school jumpers.  I have checked all of the children’s PE bags and made several visits to lost property this week.  Please can you check at home that your child has not accidentally picked up any clothing that does not belong to them.

Home Learning

This is an extended home learning and is due in on Tuesday 23rd February 2016.

After the holidays we will be spending some time learning about weddings.  We will be finding out about Christian wedding celebrations and comparing them with weddings from other countries and other faiths.

For your home learning I would like you to think about weddings in your family.  Talk to someone in your family about their wedding e.g. Parents or Grandparents.  Where did they get married?  What did they wear?  What happened in the ceremony?  Did they have a celebration afterwards?

I would like to make this learning as personal as possible for the children so, if you have any photographs that we could use, please e-mail them to me at or send them in.  If you are sending in original photos and would like them returned please ensure your child’s name is clearly marked on the back of each photograph.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.  As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please put a note in the reading diary, catch us at the end of the day, telephone the office or e-mail me directly.
