Orange Class News - 4th March 2016

Date: 3rd Mar 2016 @ 1:02pm

Friday 4th March 2015

This week we have been busy rehearsing for our class assembly tomorrow at 10.00am.  The children are very excited to share their learning with you and are practicing using big voices so you can hear them.  We have also been creating story maps and character descriptions for ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and finding and ordering days of the week and months of the year.

Parents Evenings – Monday 7th / Tuesday 8th March

If you have not yet booked, there are still appointments available.  The online booking system can be found at http://peartreeprimaryschool.parentseveningsystem.co.uk

Gauntlet Birds of Prey Centre Visit – Wednesday 9th March 2016.

Children do not need to wear uniform but should wear clothes that are suitable for spending time outside and a warm, waterproof coat is essential.  Wellies are not needed but the children should wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, as there will be some walking.

I will provide a snack for the children but they will all need a drink in a named, disposable bottle please.  If you are supplying a packed lunch from home, please can you ensure that this is also in a named carrier bag and that all packaging is disposable.

Parent Helpers – you will also need suitable clothing, snacks drinks and a packed lunch.  I will e-mail you separately to confirm timings etc.

Home Learning

The school has signed up for ‘My Maths’ – a website that builds children’s skills, confidence and fluency in maths through lessons and homework games.  Your child has been given an introductory letter with their login details (see their folder)

To get us started I have set a little home learning challenge on the website for you to access this week.  Please note that although the challenges are online it is really important that the children continue to use manipulables e.g. counters and Numicon to help them really embed their knowledge and understanding.

I will let you know on our weekly newsletter each time I set a home learning task on ‘My Maths’

Have a good weekend.  We look forward to seeing you on Monday.
