Orange Class News - 29th April 2016

Date: 28th Apr 2016 @ 8:32pm

Firstly, a huge thank you for the amazing home learning from last week.  We are spoilt for choice for door signs for the rest of the year!  So much so, that I have ordered some special frames to really showcase the children's work and we will also be displaying them on the outside door for you to enjoy.  I know that some of the children were a bit worried that they haven't been able to finish their projects  - there is no deadline 'pressure' for this, if your child wants to make a sign it can be sent in whenever it is finished.

This week in Orange Class we have enjoyed a day of 'all weathers' at Milldale - apart from hurricanes and thunder, we experienced sun, rain, sleet and even a flurry of snow!  The children coped with it all brilliantly and enjoyed a full day of outdoor learning experiences.  All of the children completed 3 out of 6 planned activities and we are looking forward to our return visit in July (fingers crossed for more predictable weather).  We have been writing about our Milldale experience, practising addition and subtraction skills and we have also been 'space engineers' - designing and testing prototypes to help Tim Peake land back on earth safely.  I can assure you that no astronauts were harmed during testing because eggs were used instead - a fun and sometimes messy experience was enjoyed by all!!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our student teacher Mr. Chris Edwards.  He has been working with us in Orange Class for the past two weeks and is with us for a further 3 weeks this year.  He will be taking a more 'prominent' role over the next 3 weeks and you are likely to see him at the classroom door in the mornings and afternoons. He's really keen to meet you all, so if you have a few minutes to spare, please feel free to come in and say hello.

Buddhism Day

Just a quick reminder - tommorrow we are celebrating Buddhism Day at Pear Tree, with some special visitors (please see the Newtletter on the website for more information).  Chldren are invited to bring a single flowerhead to school.

As per the note in this week's Newtletter - we are currently 'sharing' headlice in school.  Please take the opportunity of the long weekend to check your child and treat, if required.

Home Learning

This week's home learning is the whole-school 'Raisin Box' challenge.  Your child will have come home with a box of raisins and an explanatory note in their folder this evening.  Challenges are ue in on Tuesday 3rd May.

Have a lovely, long Bank Holiday weekend and we look forawrd to seeing you back on Tuesday 3rd May
