Orange Class News - 26th Feb 2016

Date: 25th Feb 2016 @ 4:34pm

Welcome back.  We hope you all had a restful half-term break.

This week we have been exploring capacity in maths and plurals in english.  We have been writing 'blurb' for non-fiction books and finding out about illustrations.  In P.E. we have been working on agility and we have also enjoyed a hot chocolate with marshmallows treat for filling our pear tree!

We are hoping that our new folders for books and reading diaries will finally arrive this week (fingers crossed), so the children should all have new folders with working zips for next week.

We were very excited to have our new lockers installed today.  Each child has their own locker measuring 33cm x 33cm x 33cm.  We have been supporting the children to remember to keep their book bags, coats, jumpers, hats, gloves and scarves neatly tidied away.  We hope this will help them to keep track of their belongs with increasing independence.  If you are planning on buying any new bags for the children, please bear in mind the dimensions of the lockers as we will have no other storage space in Orange Class.

World Book Day is on Wednesday 2nd March at Pear Tree.  Children in Orange Class are invited to come dressed as an animal from a story (see the Newtletter for more details)

Friday 4th March is Orange Class assembly at 10.00am - all welcome.

Wednesday 9th March is our visit to the Birds of Prey Centre - I will send out more information about clothing next week.

Wednesday 23rd of March is our Barney Bear performance in Hanley.  We are still short of 2 helpers.  If you would be able to come with us then please let me know ASAP.

Home Learning

Thank you for all your fantastic wedding home learning.  We will be using this over the next few weeks to compare traditional christian weddings with those from other faiths and cultures.

Your home learning for this week has two parts:-

1. Learn your lines for our class assembly next Friday (4th March).  They are stapled into your reading diaries.

2. Complete your 'clue' label for our book swap on Wednesday 2nd March - see the Newtletter for more information.

Have a good weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.  As always, should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
