Orange Class News - 20th May 2016

Date: 18th May 2016 @ 10:17pm

Friday 20th May 2016

This week we have been exploring fractions.  We have been finding halves and quarters of cakes, 2-D shapes, numbers and measures.  In English we have been comparing two stories to identify similarities and differences.  We have also been working together to improve some of our writing for our learning journals.

In P.E. we have been practicing our sprinting and beanbag skills and we have also been adding some more features to our collaborative artwork on the theme of ‘hope’.  This will be on display in Nantwich Museum during ‘Schoolsfest’ at the beginning of July.

Home Learning

We have been really impressed with your evergreen and deciduous tree home learning from last week.  Great research and you have found some really interesting extra facts!

For your home learning this week I have set another ‘MyMaths’ challenge for you (available from Friday 20th May).  This one is to help you practise finding halves and quarters.  Log into the website and it should be there waiting for you.  Don’t forget, these activities are for you to practise your skills but you don’t have to do any challenges without support.  Use your grown-ups, big brothers / sisters and any resources that you need to help you. (your login details are inside the back cover of your reading diary)

i-pad users – The free app called ‘Puffin Web Browser’ can be download from the App Store to access the ‘MyMaths’ challenges on your i-pad.

We have said goodbye to our student Mr. Edwards today.  We have loved having him in class, helping us with our learning and we wish him all the best for the future.

Have a good weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday for the last week of this half term.  Don’t forget that it’s only a four-day week, as school closes for the half-term holiday at the end of the day on Thursday 26th May.
