Orange Class News - 12th May 2016

Date: 12th May 2016 @ 3:48pm

This week we have been predicting what will happen next in a new story and writing alternative versions.  In maths we have been continuing addition and subtraction.  We have also been estmating and counting in groups of 2's, 5's and 10's.  In art we have explored the work of Eric Carle and have begun to create flowers for a 'Tiny Seed' garden.

Next week we are going to begin to look at fractions - finding halves of shapes, quantities and numbers.  In English we will be writing a postcard from one of the 'Tiny Seeds' and we will also be continuing to make elder beads in Forest School for our 'garden' display.

Home Learning

For your home learning this week we would like you to do a bit of research.  Deciduous trees lose their leaves in winter and evergreens keep them.  Choose ONE of the following questions to answer:-

 1) Why do some trees lose their leaves in autumn / winter?

2) Why do some trees keep their leaves all year round?

Can you label/ add captions to your own picture of a deciduous or evergreen tree (in your home learning book) to explain the answer to your question.

We look forward to seeing what you have found out next week.

Have a good weekend and remember Forest School is now on MONDAYS.

Kind regards,

Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Degg & Mr. Edwards.
