Dear Children, Parents and Carers,

This week we have completed some writing on how to teach a dragon ‘Dragony Ways!’  The children really rose to the challenge and completed this task to a great standard – including a great standard of presentation.  Our focus was on extending simple sentences, developing a more mature writing style.

In our artwork we have started to create our own castle paintings based on Castle and Sun by Paul Klee – using watercolour and pastels to create a geometric painting.

PE – this is still on Tuesday this week and we are also lucky enough o be receiving a tennis class Thursday so please make sure kit and outdoor trainers are in school for then.

On Wednesday 10th it is outdoor learning time.  Please make sure children are dressed appropriately and have waterproofs and suitable footwear.

Spellings - Please can you support your children in learning their spellings each week.  Our lessons are focussed on how these, and similar words, follow a spelling pattern but children still need to spend time learning each set of words so that they can apply the rule to new words.

Times Tables – we have spent a lot of time this year counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s and looking at how this leads to multiplication.

From 5, 10, 15 we can understand 5+5+5=15, 3 lots of 5 =15 and then 3x5=15 and 15÷3=5.  We are now looking for children to be able to recall individual multiplication facts for 2, 5 and 10 times tables. There’s many ways of approaching this – through writing them out, CDs with songs to help learn tables and numerous apps online. Squeebles in one such app that actually can help with spellings too!

Beeston – if you have not yet returned the letter/payment for Beeston, please can you contact the office asap.

Please catch me at drop-off, collection or email if you need to contact me.
