Yellow Class Newsletter

2nd May 2016

Dear Children, Parents and Carers,

After a lovely week including our trip to Milldale we ended it with our Buddhism Day and a special visit from three Buddhist Monks. The monks are based in a temple in Manchester. They led assembly and came to talk to each class.  The children were very respectful and asked some insightful questions, showing a real interest in the monks’ lives. It was a lovely peaceful and reflective day.

In Maths this week we have been revisiting fractions of quantities and then looking at money problems – finding amounts in different ways and solving money related problems.

Our writing has been based around children being given the opportunity to use connectives to write for longer periods to enable the children to demonstrate how they can use connectives to extend their sentences.

Run2Rio – all children are invited to join in with Run2Rio activities before school Monday-Thursday mornings from 8.30. Any laps completed then will be added to our ‘running’ total. We are also completing laps during the day, which add to the school total.

Forest Schools is TUESDAY 3rd May.

Spellings – Please can you support your child in spending 10 minutes a day working on their spellings.  They need to be able to spell them and use them correctly in a sentence. ‘Little and often’ is the best approach to ensure your child retains these spellings and uses them in their independent writing.

Home learning – Please encourage your child to complete their home learning tasks to the best of their ability. Home learning needs to be returned to school on Tuesdays.

Request – Please can you check all uniform/forest school clothing that came home last term. There are still a number of named items missing.

Regards,
