Yellow Class Newsletter

11th July 2016

Dear All,

The weather stayed dry for us – just about – and we had a great day at Milldale getting muddy, building dens, making fires and generally having lots of fun.  Thanks to the parent helpers who came along on both trips.  It’s a great resource that we are very lucky to use but we wouldn’t be able to utilise it without your support.

In maths we’ve been partitioning numbers in different ways.  This really helps speed up on our mental addition, especially when using our knowledge of number bonds too.

So when we look at 25 + 38 we would start with the larger number 38 and then partition 25 into 2 and 23 so our calculation would be 38 + 2 = 40,  40 + 23 = 63

Mr Cadman has been coming in all year to do some woodwork with the children.  They’ll all be finished this week ready to take home at the end of term.  Please can you send your child in with a large carrier bag in readiness for the end of term.

Apologies to those who made appointments for parents evening last week as I was unable to attend.  It has been rescheduled for Wednesday 13th July – 5 minute appointments will be available if you need to discuss anything from your child’s report.  As online booking has now closed please let me know if you would like to make an appointment.

Tuesday 12th July – KS2 performances

Friday 15th July – KS1 disco 4.45-5.45

Tuesday 19th July – last day of term

Regards,

Kay Morrell
