News Letter 7.3.16

Date: 6th Mar 2016 @ 11:10am

Really looking forward to sharing your child’s learning with you at parents’ evening this week.  I’ll be handing out some next step sheets and giving you plenty of ideas to help your child with their learning at home.

English – we are continuing to create a newspaper article.  This is an on-going project until the end of the term.  We have already created our own headline.  This week we are going to be writing a short narrative in the style of a newspaper article.  It involves lots of valuable skills that the children will have to use to ensure that this is engaging and enjoyable to read.  After we have created the article we will them using our computing skills and art to design the layout of the page.

Maths – We are going to use algebra.  The children will understand and use simple formulae. Express missing number problems algebraically. Find pairs of numbers that satisfy an equation with two unknowns. Generate and describe linear number sequences.

Art – We are continuing to explore printing with different materials and this week we will design our own print based on Hokusai’s work.

Geography –We are half way through constructing our world maps.  On Monday we are going to plot time zones onto our map.  We are also going to label the seas.

In PE we are going to be developing our kicking accuracy and our awareness of tactics in order to win a small-sided game.

Hope you had a relaxing weekend.

Mr Frankland,

Mrs Swan and Mrs Ryles
