29.2.16 (feels strange writing this)

Thank you all for attending the SATs meeting, if you couldn't attend then please send me an email and I’ll send you presentation.

English – we are going to create a newspaper article.  This is going to be an ongoing project until the end of the term.  It’ll involve writing a heading (puns), adverts (superlatives and persuasive), brief description of an event (informative) and various interviews (monologues).  It involves lots of valuable skills that the children will have to use to ensure that this is engaging and enjoyable to read.  After we have created the article we will them using our computing skills and art to design the layout of the page.

Maths – We are going to compare fractions with unrelated denominators using equivalence. Know decimal equivalents for halves, quarters, fifths, eighths, tenths and hundredths. Recognise equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. Find percentages of amounts. Use mental division strategies to find non-unit fractions of amounts.

Art – We are going to start to explore printing with different materials and begin to design our own print based on Hokusai’s work.

Geography – Alongside discussing and finding out about the European Union we will continue to use an atlas and become familiar with the construction of the world.  We are exploring continents, seas, countries and their time zones.  What is the equator?

Hope you had a relaxing weekend.

Mr Frankland,

Mrs Swan and Mrs Ryles
