News letter - 6.6.16

Date: 5th Jun 2016 @ 10:49am

Hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable half term. Looking forward to being back as we have so many fantastic learning opportunities.

The end of year performance is soon approaching so we will begin to focus our attention on William Shakespeare as we are going to perform and create dialogue for three of his sonnets.  We also need to plan and create a leavers’ assembly, too.

We are also going to continue our work around refugees and of course begin some work based around the Olympics.

This week in maths we are going to consolidate our problem solving and reasoning skills through a series of Olympic based activities.

In English we are going to create a story for our buddies.  This will demonstrate if the children can use simple sentences and dialogue effectively.  Before we even begin to write, we need to look at a range of picture books and make notes on their features.  We are also going to illustrate the pages too, this is something that will take careful consideration and planning.

Science is going to be centred on health/diet; our circulatory system and we will be exploring the question – what happens to our bodies when we exercise?

We are also going to start a research project based around the Olympics.  There will be certain things that the children will need to include (timeline, information about Brazil and the Refugee Olympic Team) but they will be given full autonomy.

If you have any questions or concerns then please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hope you had a relaxing weekend.

Mr Frankland, Mrs Ryles and Mrs Swan
