News letter - 16.5.16

Date: 15th May 2016 @ 8:42am

Words cannot express how proud I am of all the children’s hard word, dedication and motivation towards the SATs.  There are still plenty of things that the children need to learn before they leave so it’s vital that they continue to focus all the way until the last day.

It’s now so pleasing to have the SATs out of the way and now we can get back to project/ topic based learning.

English – we are going to create a piece of drama and write a monologue as if we were refugees fleeing our own homes – how would you feel if you were forced to leave your home, family and friends?  This is going to be an emotional piece of writing so the children have to think carefully about their word choices to ensure maximum impact on the reader.

Maths/ Geography – we are going to interpret data based around different countries – how can we measure well-being?  The children are going to be creating graphs, working out percentages of amounts, conduct a data collecting activity, find the mean, construct bar charts and pie charts.

PE – we are going to continue to practise all of the disciplines that the children will participate in on Sports Day and at Town Sports.

Art – following on from last week’s work around ‘What makes a good guide?’ we are going to create pieces of art that represent our characteristics.

If you have any questions or concerns then please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hope you had a relaxing weekend.
