Home learning Thursday 14th April

Welcome back J

I really hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter and that you managed to have at least one chocolate treat; I know I did.

Homework this week is to take a look at place value of digits, the children have Challenge A, B or C to choose from.

For SPaG homework I’d like the class to work on finding the conjunctions in sentences. We’ve worked on this aspect in class and they know that a conjunction is a word that joins clauses or sentences or organises words in the same clause (e.g. and, but, if). In addition I’d like them to choose 5 conjunctions from their sheet and put them into a really exciting sentence. Get them to take some risks and don’t play it safe!

This is an exciting term for Y5 with lots to look forward to. Yesterday Sue Harding introduced King Lear and so our journey to the Royal Exchange begins. The performance will take place on Tuesday 14th June at 2.30pm and I look forward to a fabulous performance. More details will follow shortly.

On Wednesday 8th June we have Gangsta Granny at the Regent Theatre in Stoke to enjoy, thank you for all voluntary contributions received so far J

Our topic this term is based around King Lear, Gangsta Granny and other oldies behaving badly! The cloudy overview is on the Indigo part of the school website and attached as part of this email too.

And finally, would you help me with a reading project I have running at the moment and fill in a short questionnaire please? It shouldn’t take long to complete and will be really helpful for my research.

I look forward to an exciting final term with Y5.

Kind regards,

Ruth Hadfield
