Home learning Friday 6th May 2016

Dear all,

How lovely to write a home learning letter with the sun shining!

Although a short week we have been busy with learning more about King Lear, bringing our learning journals up to date, story writing and problem solving in maths.

Next week we will be in the hall so that Violet Class can open up the double doors and use both rooms for their SATS. Best of luck to all in Violet! Indigo Class won’t be allowed back to the room once the tests start so it’s really important that they bring their PE kit, reading books and pencil cases home with them this weekend. We’ll store everything safely in the hall next week.

There are a number of jobs for home learning this week. First of all, ask your child to make a list of all the things they enjoy doing at Pear Tree as one of our jobs next week is to write a letter to their buddy starting in Red Class in September. This is a lovely job to do, as they will also meet their buddy in the next few weeks too; I’m sure your children all remember their buddy when they started in Reception. The next job is to take a look on MyMaths, as there is some pre-learning on decimals in readiness for next week in maths. I have also put some videos on decimals on Edmodo and I’ve also put a quiz on there too. And finally, the third job is to practise their brass instrument; I am still a woman on a mission to get all 31 children to have practised. Please record how long they’ve played for in their reading journal.

Last week Mrs Swan and I had a meeting at the Royal Exchange Theatre, you should receive a separate letter regarding the performance on Tuesday 14th June in the next few days.

Next Thursday we have a hockey coach in school and Indigo will be joining in with some sessions with him.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend,

Kind regards,

Ruth Hadfield
