Year 3 Class News Letter

Monday 20th June 2016

Dear Parents,

Where did the week go?  We’ve been so busy this week with their reports and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you very soon.

We started the week reflecting on the year we’ve had in Green class and thinking carefully about what we’ve all learned and what we want to improve on next year in Blue class.  The children then wrote so much about the year and it was lovely sitting reading them before we published them.

We also learned how to sketch our own portraits by following an online video from a professional artist. The children loved using the videos and we even had a few parents sending their efforts in from home as well! Thank you for helping them developed their sketching even further.

The children then used these skills to draw their own portraits on the front of their reports.  It’ll be great to see them compared to last years.

We will be starting our Shakespeare work this week during our English sessions this week.  I’m very excited! Pear Tree Theatre Company is underway.  The children will be learning the story of Romeo and Juliet and producing their own version for our end of year performance.

We enjoyed learning about digital clocks this week and using these skills to solve problems. We’ll do one more session this week, before moving on to fractions.  It has been something the children would like to do more of, so we’ll be learning about fractions and they relate to decimals. We’ll also be learning about equivalency and solving fraction problems.

There is some work around telling the time on My Maths this week. Please have a look if you can.

It’s Town Sports this week and I’m really excited for the children who have been training so hard for Wednesday’s track events. Good luck and I’ll see you at the start line.

The children loved creating our artwork for SkoolsFest this week and even got the opportunity to paint outside!  Please go along and see the artwork over the weekend of SkoolsFest.

In a few weeks you will receive your child’s report and there will be an opportunity to come to a short parents’ evening.  I will be answering any questions you may have about your child’s report.

I will of course be Tweeting and Facebooking throughout the year. I’ll keep you up to date throughout the term via:
