Spring Term No 11

Well done to Blue Class Cross Country Team!  The girls qualified and came 7th place out of 9.  I’ve heard all about the personal struggles and battles that our competitors went through – stirring stuff – very proud.  The boys qualified and came 9th place out of 10.  More children competing from our class, would have scored far more points.  The other classes did much better because they had more members of the class taking part.  The next Cross Country event is Monday 4th July.  The Cross Country event is a team effort – we need to work as a class team with all competing.  Get the event in your diaries!

Keep a good look out on the new Pear Tree website.  I will be updating Blue Class’ page ready for our learning adventure next term.

We begin with a BIG Question.  Each class is starting the Summer Term with a question to be investigated by working scientifically.  Our Question is:

When I drop my toast, why does it always seem to land butter side down (making a mess)?

There have been many scientific studies done on this question check the interweb.  I’ll post some links on Edmodo.

Our theme for the term is “Sound and Vision” – a look at modern inventions, technology, the science of sound and electricity.  What did you think of the hologram viewers that the children made with the Student?  There are other illusions that we are going to try such as ‘Pepper’s Ghost.’ look at how animation works and make or own films.

Later in the term, KS2 are delving into the world of Shakespeare’s play, King Lear.  I’ve got some wonderful drama resources for us to inhabit the world of this tragedy.

Conway Centre Residential 25th – 27th   April.

It’s coming up quickly now.  There will be a short meeting straight after school on Monday 11th April to go through the programme, what to pack and what not to pack.  If you can’t make it, all the information will be posted on the website.

Your child should have brought home Form ‘C’ and a kit list.  Don’t buy anything special.  All that is needed is wellies, warm changes of clothes and a waterproof for the evenings - full waterproofs are supplied for daytime activities.

Have a good Easter holiday.
