Blue Class News 10th June

Date: 12th Jun 2016 @ 10:02am

We managed to get sports day done despite the threat of rain.

The children have been drawing self-portraits for their reports.  What a brilliant set of drawings.  Just you wait.  They have written their thoughts about this year as well.  The children know exactly where they have done well and made most progress.  They have identified what they need to work on next as well so accurately.  Their accounts make such interesting reading.  There is an opportunity to ask questions about your child’s report on Wednesday 6 July 2016 - 14:00 ‘til 16:00 should you wish to.

I have heard some great stories about the fantastic efforts that have gone into the homework challenge.  There are some brilliant photos.  What an adventurous time you are all having.

I have planned a series of Forest School sessions for blue Class.  They will learn specific skills about using tools and learn from the rich resource that a woodland provides.  Our little forest at the end of the field is looking quite spectacular with lush new growth.  Each week a group will learn a skill then have the opportunity to put the skill into practice over the following weeks.  The sessions will be on Fridays mainly.  Any changes and I’ll text.  The children must come to school dressed appropriately for the weather and working outside.

As you know, the cross-country event takes place on 4th July.  I want our class to qualify and score.  We need a minimum number of girls and boys to qualify.  The more children we have entering, the better our score.  It’s a great competition, as everyone can compete at their own level and pace.  It’s the one competition where everyone’s score counts.

Another date that is in your diaries is SkoolsFest on Saturday 2nd July.  There are two jobs we need Blue Class to do.

First, we would like Blue Class to join in The Big Sing.  We are practising the songs in class.  Thea Gilmore, who has written a song especially for SkolsFest, is coming in to school a week on Monday to sing with us.

Next, our class did really well with playing samba with Mrs Minshull.  We need as many as possible to join Pear Tree Samba as we enter The Battle of the Bands.  The Big Sing is first thing in the morning.  The Battle of the Bands is in the morning as well.  Letters have been sent out about both events.

We all have things that we need to do on Saturdays, flying lessons, boxing competitions, going to your mate’s BBQ.  Lets try and fit in Skools Fest as well.  Go to SkoolsFest, take part and still go for a burn on the bike and get to the BBQ.

Please return the slips as soon as possible.  Thank you so much to all those who have sent slips in already.
