BLUE CLASS NEWS

6th May 2016

Summer Term No 4

It’s Bike Ability next week.  The children will really love the half day that they spend on their bikes.  The learning will involve practical riding skills as well as road safety.  The riding sessions will take place on the playground.  With the massive increase in traffic these days, learning how to ride safely is   more important than it has ever been.

The children will need to come dressed for the weather – no problem for veterans of The Conway Centre.  Don’t forget the cycle helmet.  `Bikes are to be wheeled when on school premises onto the playground and propped up on the fence around the garden.  Bikes are to be wheeled not ridden.

The Bike Ability trainers will check bikes before use, but please spend this weekend making sure that you have carried out the following:

  • Tyres pumped up and not loosing air – repair the puncture / replace inner tube.
  • Seat and handlebar height adjusted correctly.
  • Brakes and gears adjusted.

The trainers are used to dealing with a range of achievement in cycling skills.  Don’t worry if your child not confident yet or has not learned to ride a bike.  If you have a concern, please let me know.

The children will be in two groups, spending half a day’s training and half a day on work in class with me.
