This week we have won many victories. Give yourself a pat on the back and a treat! Last week I talked about kindness to self and others in my infant assembly. Thank you for all those who have shared their kindness jars to mark all the great care that is going on in every home. The juniors were encouraged to be independent and develop their resilience. I hope you have started your challenge cards juniors! Remember you can do lots of things on your own.
Really lovely to see all the families who dropped in for resources and books on Thursday (and to see the staff in person we havent been altogether for weeks). It was very cold but we warmed up when we saw you all. It was so fabulous we will rerun this every two weeks throughout lock down so you know there is a regular opportunity to access books, resources and ask staff about anything we can help you with in person.
Well Done Lacey-Mae
As so many of our families have had lockdown puppies it is great to see Lacey-Mae from Year 6 has been championing the very important message about clearing up after your dog! This week she has made the Nantwich News well done!

Mr and Mrs Challinor
Mr Challinor has asked me to make sure we remind all our families to keep taking all the really important steps to reduce the spread of COVID. Sadly both he and Mrs Challinor are both currently very poorly with this frightening illness. There is no link to school at all with their cases but he wanted me to remind all our families to keep remembering hands, face and space.
We miss them both greatly and ask you to keep them in your thoughts at this very difficult time for them both.
Screen Free Friday
We are taking feedback and suggestions about our remote learning and as we said from the outset adapting our offer.
As we are all spending more time in front of screens currently, we are declaring Friday as Screen Free Friday. Wellbeing of pupils, staff and parents is so important to us at Pear Tree so we are suggesting that we designate one day a week as screen-free, where physical activity, reading and spending quality time together are prioritised. We know that some of you still have work commitments so we have planned a range of activities that your child/children can enjoy with you but we will also offer activities that can be done as independently as possible. Please make sure you register your child as normal on Teams and follow the timetable that will be in the Assignment tab on Teams. Theres no need to provide evidence on a Friday but we do love to see photos of what youve been up to and the creative way youve interpreted our ideas (
Well-being week
Every February before half term we have run an off curriculum week running up to half term. In the past we have done a STEM theme, try something different and a Get active focussed weeks. Despite Lockdown, Mrs Swallow our Well-being champion is keen we still offer this to the children.
This years theme seems more important than ever. We truly value and place high importance on everyones well-being. This is why from next week we will begin screen free Friday.
As well as this, the week beginning 8th February will be Well-being Week in our virtual school. Every day we will have a different theme: Bravery, Thoughtfulness, Wishes, Thankfulness and Friendship. There will be a pack available to pick up from school with resources that children can then access across the wellbeing week. During this week there will also be a daily live lesson and a range of activities that focus on the theme. But dont worry we will have structured time too so that this does not add to your workload when you are trying to work too! Look out for more details next week.
Parents evening
Normally we would be holding our main Parents evening in February. This year we are going to offer that opportunity to talk to each family about observations you have made during lockdown, progress in school up to Christmas and since lockdown has begun and formulate ideas of how we can best support your child upon return. We will deliver this utilising Zoom meetings as we did last parents evening. As we had an overwhelmingly positive response about this. We will be organising this after half term and will let you know dates when we may (or may not) have a slightly clearer picture about when we will be returning to school in full.
Virtual Hug Competition
Thanks for all the stunning entries so far there is still another week to send entries in to the What does a virtual Hug look like? competition.
