Christmas Carol Concert

Please check your child’s bag tonight to sign up for the whole school Christmas Carol concert on December 12th at 6.15p.m. at St Mary’s Church, Nantwich. This promises to be a first and we are very excited and practising all our carols and songs every day! Please sign up and return the slip at the bottom of the letter to confirm your child/ren are attending so we can allocate parts and sort out costumes.

Phones in school

Can we ensure that no iPods, iPads or mobile phones are brought into school. At a primary level these cause a major safeguarding risk and we all need to be sure that none sneak in. Even iPods can send texts and take pictures now! Technology moves faster than we do and the children are often much more knowledgeable than adults with them. If for any reason you feel it is vital your child has a phone for the occasional time they may need to walk home unaccompanied when it is dark then please can you arrange with their class teacher to have it all day and only give it to your child at the end of the day. We have a school telephone though and can always contact parents if required.

Staff Update
With Mrs Adams leaving in December, Mrs Lisa Lacy an experienced teacher currently working at The Nantwich Academy has now been appointed and starts in January. We look forward to welcoming her to the Pear Tree Family whilst being very sad to say goodbye to Mrs Adams.

Miss Keeping will also be leaving at Christmas. Miss Keeping who has worked across the school since it opened 14 years ago and currently covers PPA for four staff across the school having returned in September from her maternity leave. This cover will now be delivered by existing staff who already cover classes on other days and know our children best. This is currently being finalised so all staff are ready to start in January. We will miss Miss Keeping and wish her all the very best in the future.

Thank you for your donations of copper to the Children in Need appeal; we raised over £100.

Reminders please be vigilant with checking for head lice and keep your child at home for 48 hours after sickness.

Christmas Cards -It’s that time of year when the children’s thoughts begin to turn to all things Christmas! We would like to remind you that at Pear Tree we do not send individual Christmas cards. The children are welcome to make a card addressed to ‘All my friends at Pear Tree’, which we love to display around school over the festive season.

Staff Gifts – on a similar note, we appreciate that Christmas is a very expensive time of year for families and the staff have requested that the children do not buy them Christmas gifts. They do love to receive a homemade card though.
